As a means of
terminating and securing any cable system, the role of the Prysmian
cable gland should never be overlooked. The gland provides the
earth continuity from the armour or galvanised braid of the
cable to the equipment, and the IEE Wiring Regulations requires
that this continuity be maintained under all circumstances. This
is particularly true in conditions where vibration may be a
problem or where regular maintenance requires a gland to be
opened for inspection of the armour clamp.
All Prysmian armoured cable glands are available in a version
featuring a separate locking ring (with the exception of the BW
Prysmian Cable Glands) to ensure that this mechanical and
electrical integrity remains secure.
The various BICON Components Cable glands offered with outer or
inner/outer seals additionally protect against the ingress of
dust or moisture, and flameproof versions protect against the
transmission of an explosion should this occur within the
equipment once terminated.
